Walton Global Closes on 76+ Acre Sale Within Master Planned Community in Central Florida
Land within Canopy Master Planned Community sold for Residential Activity
Walton Global, a real estate investment and land asset management company and sponsor of private placement investments, announced the sale of Phase 1 within Hernando County’s 264.25-acre Canopy master planned community. Sold to homebuilder Park Square Homes, Phase 1 consists of 76.55 acres with up to 227 residential lots. The community will feature a variety of amenities for its residents, with designs for the clubhouse and other amenities currently in the works.
“Hernando County is expected to gradually increase its population as migration into the Sunbelt continues,” said Shane Doherty, real estate coordinator for the East Coast at Walton Global. “The Phase 1 sale to Park Square Homes is a critical first step toward building out the Canopy master planned community to support the region’s continued growth.”
Situated directly north of the Glen Lakes Golf & Country Club, the Canopy master planned community benefits from exposure and visibility along U.S. 19, a major tollway connecting the entire Tampa Metropolitan Statistical Area. This places the community just 59 miles from downtown Tampa, 84 miles from Orlando, 11 miles from Pine Island Park on the Gulf, and 9.5 miles from the scenic Weeki Wachee Gardens. More locally, the property provides easy access to a variety of shopping centers, bars, and restaurants. It also sits near Glen Lake and Tooke Lake.
“We are pleased to bring Park Square Homes’ expertise to Hernando County to support mindful regional growth,” said Nicole Stanton, vice president of sales and marketing at Park Square Homes. “We look forward to working with Walton Global to build an amenity-rich community with exceptional homes for new residents.”
Earlier this year, Walton Global announced the sale of land within another master planned community – nearly 140 acres within the Cotton Gateway master planned community in Caldwell County, Texas. The buyer was homebuilder Lennar.
Park Square Homes is a family-owned and operated private homebuilder and developer based in Orlando, Fla., with a growing presence throughout Tampa and Southwest Florida.
Other residential activity in the region includes Crystal Waters, a 200-unit community located directly across from the Canopy development that is currently working its way through the Hernando County Planning and Zoning Commission. To the northeast sits Metro Development’s Community Lake Hideaway, a master planned community with roughly 3,700 residential units.
Walton Global is a privately-owned, land asset management and global real estate investment company with more than 93,000 acres of land under ownership, management and administration in the United States and Canada, totaling $3.4 billion. With more than 45 years of experience, Walton has a proven track record of land investment projects within the path of growth in the fastest-growing metropolitan areas.
