Walton Global Announces Phase 1 Land Sale at Southport Village in Spartanburg County
Precedent Land Company to develop 79 acres within the 464-acre master planned community to support the region’s residential growth
Walton Global, a leading global real estate asset management and land investment company, has announced the Phase 1 land sale of approximately 79 acres at Southport Village in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The property was purchased by Precedent Land Company, a leading developer, as part of the ongoing development of the Southport master-planned community.
“Spartanburg is one of the fastest growing markets in South Carolina, and Southport Village puts us in a strong position to support this growth,” said Michael Slavotinek, Executive Vice President of Real Estate in the East Region for Walton Global. “The region’s industrial base is drawing jobs and new residents, and homebuilders need finished lots to keep up with this demand.”
Southport Village sits along Highway 295 and Old Canaan Road, with frontage on both roads. The property is currently zoned agricultural under Spartanburg County zoning and B-1/Neighborhood Shopping and General Residential under city zoning. The conceptual master plan calls for a mix of single-family detached homes on 40, 50 and 60-foot lots, along with townhomes, multi-family units and a commercial component. The community can also support recreation areas, parks and open space throughout.
“Southport Village gives us a well-located, master-planned community in a market where demand for new homes continues to outpace supply,” said Travis K. Hege, President for Precedent Land Company Carolinas LP. “The mix of lot sizes and proximity to both Spartanburg and Greenville make this an ideal site for our next phase of growth in South Carolina.”
The property is located approximately four miles north of downtown Spartanburg, and roughly 36 miles southwest of Greenville. Spartanburg is among the five largest cities in South Carolina and a growing industrial hub, with strong homebuilder activity already underway in the surrounding area. Southport Village is also adjacent to The Carolina Country Club.
The transaction supports Walton’s continued investment in high-growth Southeast markets and its role in supplying land to meet rising homebuilder demand.
