A significant new housing project is on the horizon for Athens, resulting in nearly 900 homes upon completion.
What kind of homes?
This project will feature 874 homes upon completion. Nearly half of those residential units will be detached single-family homes.
- 39.83 acres used for residential multi-family-planned development (townhomes and low-rise multi-family units).
- 158.99 acres used for residential single-family-planned development (two to four bedrooms spread across one or two stories).
- 8.19 acres used for commercial purposes.
Project Information
A development of regional impact (DRI) filing was submitted on August 8 for a project on 4500 Atlanta Highway. This project includes 207 acres, situated 2.5 miles west of the Georgia Square Mall and roughly 10 miles west of the University of Georgia’s main campus.
The project, named Winslow Park, is being developed by Arlington, Texas-based homebuilder D.R. Horton, and will be completed by 2028, as per DRI filing.
Who owns this property?
The property is currently owned by Walton Georgia LLC, a local affiliate of the international land asset management company Walton Global.
Walton acquired the land in 2014 and later partnered with D.R. Horton to deliver the residential aspect of Winslow Park.
