MATTAMY HOMES PURCHASES 190 ACRES FROM WALTON GROUP IN CHARLOTTE, NC

2018/01/31

Canada’s largest homebuilder has acquired 190 acres of land at the Walton Group’s successful Bonterra Village development in Charlotte. The land is zoned for 389 single family lots.

Walton Development and Management acquired the 267-acre parcel of the Bonterra Village Master Plan in 2013 and planned to develop 615 singlefamily lots. In November 2017, Bonterra Village Phases 5 to 8 (approximately 190 acres) was sold to Mattamy Homes, a Canadian based home builder with a strong presence in Charlotte. This 190 acres of land is zoned for 389 single family lots and is planned for a variety of price points.

In previous transactions, Bonterra Builders, a Charlotte-based, award-winning homebuilder with more than 30 active communities in the Carolinas, purchased 76 developed lots in Phase 3 and 78 undeveloped acres zoned for 161 single family homes in Phase 4. Those transactions closed in September, 2013 and April, 2017 respectively.

Mattamy Homes has been one of the largest consumers of land and lots in the Charlotte market over the years and Walton has established a sound long-term relationship with them,” said P. Anthony Sparrow, General Manager of Walton Development and Mangement (USA) Inc. “Both Bonterra Builders and Mattamy Homes are highly motivated in this market because of the eminent completion of the by-pass that will make commuting to Charlotte much easier. Charlotte is one of the United State’s fastest growing markets since the recession. The boom in Charlotte’s housing market is being driven by tremendous economic and job growth, with home prices still being relatively affordable,” said Anthony.
