SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. –\u00a0<\/strong>Walton, a real estate investment and land asset management company with US$3.4 billion and more than 98,000 acres under management and administration in North America, recently announced it has closed on the first phase of residential lots in Varrea with D.R. Horton, the largest homebuilder by volume in the United States. Phase 1 marks the beginning of more than 1,900 homes that are anticipated in the master-planned community located in Plant City, Fla.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cThis is an exciting first step\u00a0in our\u00a0ongoing\u00a0collaboration with D.R. Horton,\u201d said\u00a0Edward\u00a0Fleming, Executive Vice President at Walton. \u201cWe look forward to\u00a0continuing\u00a0to\u00a0work with\u00a0Horton\u00a0on this project\u00a0and\u00a0support their plan to further develop the\u00a0community\u00a0and\u00a0deliver\u00a0much-needed\u00a0new\u00a0home inventory for this growing area in\u00a0central\u00a0Florida.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

D.R. Horton\u00a0signed an option agreement\u00a0in 2019\u00a0with Walton\u00a0to develop\u00a0a portion\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0approximately\u00a01,000\u00a0acres of land\u00a0owned by Walton\u00a0in phases.\u00a0This master-planned community\u00a0is expected to\u00a0ultimately\u00a0consist of\u00a09\u00a0compact and walkable neighborhoods\u00a0with home prices expected to\u00a0start\u00a0from\u00a0the low\u00a0$300s\u00a0and\u00a0home sizes\u00a0starting\u00a0from\u00a01,500\u00a0sq. ft.\u00a0Phase 2\u00a0of this\u00a0project is expected to close later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cWith\u00a0extremely strong\u00a0demand for new single-family homes in\u00a0the\u00a0United States,\u00a0combined with the shortage of available inventory, it\u00a0is\u00a0imperative\u00a0that we\u00a0have access to attractive land parcels for new home communities,\u00a0and Walton has been instrumental\u00a0in\u00a0helping us\u00a0on that front,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Darren Saltzberg, Division President of\u00a0D.R. Horton\u2019s West Florida Division. \u201cWe\u00a0expect to\u00a0ultimately develop\u00a0over\u00a01,900\u00a0new single-family homes within the\u00a0Varrea\u00a0community as we complete the various phases\u00a0of\u00a0this project.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Varrea,\u00a0located at\u00a0the southwest corner of Charlie Taylor\u00a0Rd.\u00a0and\u00a0E.\u00a0Knights Griffin\u00a0Rd.,\u00a0is just north of\u00a0Interstate\u00a04, the most traveled freeway\u00a0in Florida. It is within a 15-minute drive to\u00a0nearby\u00a0Lakeland,\u00a0a\u00a025-minute drive to Tampa and\u00a0a\u00a060-minute drive to Orlando.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
