{"id":1386,"date":"2020-04-27T02:13:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-27T02:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waltonglobal.wpengine.com\/tc\/?p=1386"},"modified":"2021-10-29T14:52:13","modified_gmt":"2021-10-29T21:52:13","slug":"business-briefcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walton.com\/tc\/business-briefcase\/","title":{"rendered":"Business Briefcase"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Taken alone, they are not solid indications of a return to normalcy \u2014 but they are \u201cgrounds\u201d for optimism:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As a business breaks ground in Avondale, a huge land sale that could bring\u00a01,000 homes to Buckeye\u00a0is announced.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>On April 14, the\u00a0city of Avondale\u00a0held a \u201cvirtual groundbreaking\u201d for\u00a0Modern Grind Coffee.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Located at 13044 W. Rancho Santa Fe Boulevard (off Dysart Road between I-10 and McDowell Road), the business is set to open in the fall.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Avondale will be the first brick and mortar Modern Grind location.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Goodyear-based company sells coffee and tea online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/moderngrindcoffee.com\/\">moderngrindcoffee.com<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Instead of the usual big-crowd groundbreaking, attendance at this one was kept to a minimum (in keeping with social distancing guidelines) and the event was streamed live via Facebook Live and Instagram.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to welcome Modern Grind to Avondale, and we look forward to all being there in person for the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening,\u201d Avondale Economic Development Director\u00a0Ken Chapa\u00a0said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cCOVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on our businesses in our community, and we want our local businesses to know that we\u2019re there for them. We are here to mark important milestones such as groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings\u2014we\u2019re just doing it a little differently right now,\u201d Chapa added.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Avondale launched its\u00a0Ready to Serve Campaign\u00a0earlier this month, to raise awareness that many Avondale restaurants are still open and providing service at curbside or via delivery and takeout. A list of participating restaurants is shared on the economic development website,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/avondaleedge.com\/\">avondaleedge.com<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Avondale Office of Economic Development has also recently launched its biweekly Avondale Business Connection\u00a0meetings. These meetings provide Avondale businesses a venue to engage with subject matter experts on a wide range of topics including SBA Programs, social media strategies, free tools and resources.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>More small-business information and tools related to COVID-19 are available at\u00a0Goodyear Economic Development\u2019s\u00a0website,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/developgoodyearaz.com\/\">developgoodyearaz.com<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Walton<\/strong>, a real estate investment and land asset company, announced it sold 290 acres in the Mystic Vista and Vista Bonita master plans in Buckeye.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A Walton spokeswoman declined to give a price on the land sale, which closed \u201crecently.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>MPC Developments\u00a0purchased 145 acres in the Mystic Vista community located at Apache Road and Southern Avenue. Mystic Vista is zoned fully residential for 564 single-family homes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>And\u00a0Villa Capri Mobile Home Park\u00a0bought 125 acres in the Vista Bonita master plan located in the vicinity of Apache Road and Broadway Road. The two projects are zoned residential for approximately 500 single-family homes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Previously, 20 acres of Vista Bonita were sold to the city of Buckeye for the construction of a new water campus.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Around this time last year, a study showed Buckeye is the country\u2019s fastest-growing city.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>And things do not seem to be slowing down, as the city has\u00a0\u00a026 master-planned communities approved and 2,651 single family permits issued in 2019, according to the\u00a0Buckeye Valley Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cBuckeye is a prime investment market where both high demand and growth are providing great opportunity,\u201d said\u00a0Jen Ruby,\u00a0senior vice president of Walton.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cWalton is also currently in negotiations for selling property in another Buckeye master plan to a leading national homebuilder,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Walton announced it sold 290 acres in the Mystic Vista and Vista Bonita master plans in Buckeye, a prime investment market where both high demand and growth are providing great opportunity.
